Trebled Thoughts

You don't love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.

Roller Coaster

I’ve forgotten how hard it is to have a crush on someone.

It’s a thrashing roller coaster, that twists and turns, loops and cork screws,
and the only thing you know to do is to hold on for dear life.
You hold your breath, hoping that is ends happy,
hoping that your heart and head is in tact at the end,
and that when your done, there is someone to hold your hand
at the end of the terrifying run.

But if it goes sour, your stomach twists and knots up
until you’re not sure you can hold it anymore.
You’re eyes tear up and burn,
and all you can do is blindly stumble off the death trap,
and look for a trash can.

I’m not sure if this is pleasure or pain.
My stomach turns to knots when I see him,
And I can’t help but wonder: How will this end?
Will I walk away from this terrible thrill with his strong hand in mine,
helping me regain my bearings?

Or will I be alone and paralyzed,
looking for that terrible place
where I can be crying and sick in peace?

I’m hoping for the first one.
